The HSE inspectors are coming – will your business pass an inspection? During the COVID-19 pandemic, the government has made an additional £14 million available to the Health and Safety Executive (HSE) to fund extra call centre staff, inspectors and equipment. Inspections
The additional money has been available to the HSE to conduct spot checks on businesses across the UK to ensure that they’re abiding by social distancing guidance, amongst other elements of employees’ health and safety. It's widely anticipated that during inspections, inspectors will be assessing all aspects of employee health and safety, including the control of dust and fumes, which are legislated in regulation 6 of the Control of Substances Hazardous to Health (COSHH) regulations 2002.
Employees are now being encouraged to raise any health and safety concerns they have directly with the HSE’s existing, and additional call centre staff. A recent publication stated that over 7,000 inquiries had been made to the HSE and 4,500 of these resulted in complaints.

LEV systems should be subjected to an examination and test every 14 months. This is to ensure that they perform to their initial benchmark performance levels.
